Valdemar Juel Enemærke
Visiting PhD - Since December 2023
Previous: BSc and MSc – Aarhus University
Current: PhD student – Enantioselective synthesis with benzothiophene derivatives
Publications: J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2021, 143, 7509 – 7520; Chem. Eur. J. 2022, 28, e2022023
Prizes: TOKS Best Poster Prize (2023); BSc graduation with distinction (2019); First prize in the Audience Workshop Competition in Danish Science Show Championships (Team effort – 2019); First prize in the main Show Competition in Danish Science Show Championships (Team effort – 2018)
Biography: I was born in Aarhus and moved to Båring (a small village on Funen) when I was five. After finishing high school, I moved back to Aarhus to study chemistry at the university. I completed my BSc and MSc under the supervision of Prof Karl Anker Jørgensen with whom I am currently also conducting my PhD studies. My research in Aarhus concerns mechanistic studies and method development of enantioselective aminocatalysis. I joined the Procter Group in December 2023 as a visiting student, where I will investigate enantioselective synthesis with benzothiophene derivatives.
I spend most of my free time on music. Both by playing tenor saxophone in a local Aarhus big band, but also by listening to my record collection, and exploring (mostly new Danish) music.
