Biography:
I first lived just outside of Horsham, West Sussex. I received a MSc from the University of Bristol, under the supervision of Prof. Tim Gallagher. I then undertook a PhD at the University of York under the guidance of Professor Richard Taylor and Dr William Unsworth, researching a wide range of topics from macrocyclisation to EDA complexes. During my PhD I spent four inspirational months in Shanghai at SIOC with Professor ShuLi You, investigating iridium catalysed asymmetric reactions. I was then due to move to Princeton in the USA, but due to a certain pandemic, international travel was not possible. Not all was lost, as I was very fortunate to have been a transient postdoctoral researcher at the University of Manchester with Professor David Procter, helping explore the photochemistry of sulfonium salts. I then joined the group of Sir Professor Dave MacMillan at Princeton University, researching a range of topics from alcohol activation to bioisosterism, finally returning to Manchester to take up position as Lecturer in Organic Chemistry.
