Emily Rushworth
PhD - Since October 2023
Previous: MChem - The University of Manchester
Current: PhD student
Funding: BBSRC PhD Studentship
Biography: I grew up in Bradford and completed my integrated masters degree at the University of Manchester, working in the Procter group investigating the use of SmI2 catalysis to reach bioisosteres. I also undertook an industrial placement at GSK in my third year, investigating the use of machine learning for chemical reaction optimisation. In 2023, I rejoined the Procter group for my PhD, investigating use of chemo- and biocatalysis in benzothiophene cross coupling reactions. In my spare time, I enjoy arts and crafts (especially pottery), backpacking/travelling and hiking.
